a little 80's love....

today was 80's day at the high school, so kalie, being the highly school spirited girl that she is, HAD to dress up...with my help, of course! brittany, also joined in on the fun at her school with "lazy" day...can't pass up a chance to be lazy!

okay, i have to admit, NOT the greatest pic, but hey, it was 7am and a little chilly and i was being rushed darn it!

check out the large hoop earrings and the oh-so-tenderly teased bang! and the accessories totally rock...neon plastic bracelets and fingerless glove are so rad!

now i am off to listen to some bananarama and vintage madonna!

whirling dervishes...they're bailing the hay..chasing shadows and fun finds!

so my friend/kalie and britts history teacher, moved to turkey this past summer, LUCKY....she has the most awesome blog with pictures, super cool. i wish i could share it with you all, but i think it private. anyway...it is so weird, because i guess i was expecting pictures of large moorish buildings and whirling dervishes covering the sidewalks and plazas. not so! some of the pictures remind me of san fran, actually...just thought i'd share. i am having issues with my jealousy toward her,argh...what a lucky girls to be living in a different culture like that and to share it with her hubby and child! LUCKY!!!!

now on to more pressing issues, like bailing hay...

i am captivated by this process every year...i don't know why...

the fields get so lush and green...

then they cut the alfalfa, put it all in nice, neat rows, and let it dry for a few days...

and then...my favorite day (i am pathetic, i know) the hay bails look so perfect dotting the landscape...having this view is so refreshing considering the fact that i live in the desert! argh....

ok, so i know it seems cruel, like making your dog chase it's own tail, but i couldn't resist...here is mr. elijah  chasing his own shadow...hours of entertainment!

i finally got my shining red bike! i love it! thank you diane...elijah put it together with a little help from grampa...

in other random news...

i am amazed at how many different types of tools are out there for papercrafting and scrapbooking...i'm not too much of a tool junkie, but i found the orange gadget in the basket yesterday at michaels, and since i had a 50% off coupon, i got it. i hope it works good. the basketswere on clearance for like 85%off or something, i paid 1.99 for one and 2.99 for the other, even the chest was only 4 bucks...michaels is good for something afterall!

i am going to make some fun things out of the rest of my fun finds, and since i am in the fall "mode" i will start decorating the house, inside and out, with harvesty, thanksgivingish goodness. i think i will bake a pie today...yummy!

slowing down...for now!

i have been sooo busy lately, that i feel as though i can't catch my breath! life sure does sneek up up on me sometimes... here is some of what i have been up to, and hopefully, i really will be slowing down for a bit!

the next few pix are of "spirit fest", an event put on by 12 churches in our area. jimmie and i volunteered in the teen/youth areas for the weekend. there were so many kids! we had a pro skateboarding demo at our local skatepark as part of the event as well. the first picture shows only half of the park and all the kids with their legs hanging over the edge of the bowl...

and finally...some little cuties i've been working on...

the kids are settled in to their new school schedules, dance and extracurricular activities pretty well now...as always, our house is a busling hub of activity and i look forward to my evenings, when i can lie in bed and crochet or read, although, most of the time, i just crash as soon as my behind hits the sheets! oh, and i can't forget dancing with the stars and greys anatomy (starts tonight!). that is the best...sitting in bed with my little grommets (some not so little anymore) with a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream with mini chocolate chips on top, watching dancing with the stars and listening to my teenagers comentary..."he is sooo hot!", "omg, she doesn't have any clothes on!", "ooh, she missed a step. i hope he/she gets voted off!" it is pretty entertaining.

i just love the fall so much...i feel a sense of calm as the trees start to change and days get cooler and shorter...as if God gave us this season to slow us down...the anticipation of finding the "perfect,imperfect" pumpkins to decorate the front stoop, that will also be adequit enough to please "ms. ocd" (aka, myself) to use as serving bowls for Thanksgiving dinner...i have so much to be thankful for, and fall has arrived just in time to slow me down to give thanks for all i have been blessed with..

i am going back to blogging daily again (hopefully) and i am going to try to get back to doing one creative thing a day and posting pix...it is sooooo good for the soul to create something, EVERYDAY... whether it is the dinner you create for your family each evening or an actual project...take pride in what you do and treat it as a special creation!

facebook, argh! and hamburger making bees...

so, i finally did it...i signed up for facebook. i can't believe i gave in...

anyway, i am getting back into the swing of things, just been really busy finishing up a wholesale order...i will update later tonight or tommorrow with a very picture heavy post...i got some very nice pix of the last days of my garden...summer is almost gone, so sad, but i can't wait for fall.

i will also post some pix of what i have been up to, my poor dining room table has not seen the light of day in a while!

i'm still here!!!

well, it's been a busy week!

these are the moments that  i just sit back and soak in all of the wonderfullness that is being a mama!check this out...elijah got a spidey outfit and thinks he can really climb walls...no, really, i'm not joking...he couldn't get the outfit on fast enough and then...he literally ran at the wall, thinking he could just climb right up it, and almost knocked himself out. if only i had the video camera on!

this lasted about 10 minutes, soooo funny!

friday was my friend, dianes b-day. i made her a german chocolate cake with home-made coconut-pecan frosting...yummy

looks like a giant donut, huh...we won't tell how many candles were supposed to be on that cake!

and now, here is a sneak peek at what i have been up to...

i need to do a few adjustments, and they should be ready next week...

i am having a GRAND OPENING sale at my etsy shop as well, so check it out! i will be adding some "girly" door signs as well. journals and card kits are on the list too! busy , busy, busy!

happy labor day!

i had the most relaxing weekend...i hope you all did as well. my girls were off camping, so we only had elijah for the weekend. my parents ventured out to the bay area to see family and attend the tapestry and talent festival. we had the house all to ourselves for 3 WHOLE days!!! i love you mom and dad, but it was really nice to have some time to ourselves!

i was even able to get in some scrapbooking, woohoo!

i "distressed" the photo using photoshop, then printed it on a transparency and tore the edges. i really like the way it turned out.
