i am sicker than a dawg!!!!

...but i have procrastinated enough on this post... so here we go...the day before valentine's day, i had the honor of making a wedding cake for a friend from high school's aunt. the theme was kinda country...they live on a ranch and have horses, etc...

the picture on the right, is a fondant belt buckle that i designed for the cake topper...after it dried, i painted it with edible platinum paint made from lemon extract and silver colored dust...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i am not too happy about the way the flowers turned out after seeing the pictures, but the bride liked it alot and that is all that matters...

my friend failed to tell me that their "driveway" was a very long, bumpy, dirt road! i made my poor daughter hold the cake on her lap while i went 5 miles an hour...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2 hours later...

we were at the first ever northview concert... 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and the next morning was valentines day...here's what i did for my sweethearts...

i impressed myself this year by making these spiffy little valentines in 30 minutes, before anyone got up! i sewed doilies, felt and cardstock together. then hot glued them to skewers and tied a bow around it...

i made "goody baskets" for the kids...kalie and britt got candy and some little doodads, picture frames, calendar, manicure set, etc...elijah made out with the best gift of all...playdough! we all sat at the kitchen table together and played with it...

to top the day off...we went to the movies and saw coraline with some friends from church. i loved that movie! then we got some pizza and hung out at the house...

so there ya' go...another action packed week with me and my fam!

lots of sparklies...

a little migraine update......thank God, i have been relived of my migraine!!! yeah!

last week, elijah, brittany and i had too much fun with the glitter, paint and glue...

although, i know she would hate to admit it, brittany can never pass up a chance to get messy...and the gooier and messier it is, the better!

here is what we ended up doing with our sparkly creations...

   

 

 

ok, i think my photos are a little messed up, but i can't figure out how to get them arranged right, so that's how it's going to stay...

as you can see, i was in an especially sparkly mood and my family will probably be seeing remnants of this sparkliness for months to come...

this week, i will try to find some more time for artsy stuff, but in the meantime, i am busy trying to scan all of my family poloroids into the computer before they fade away into nothingness... anyone know of any poloroid cameras laying around looking for a new owner? i have been on the hunt since i found out they were stopping production and i have yet to come across one in good condition. keep your eagle eyes open for me!!!

migraines suck....

so, i have been getting this migraine for a couple of days now, and it has decided to finally go full blown on me...i will have some sparklie goodness for you as soon as i can focus on the computer screen...hopefully 2morrow... i will also have another cool cake pic next week...western stylie with "leather" belt wrapped around in chocolate and pink and mocha-ish colors...should be pretty rad...sorry, gotta go, i can't even think...or see straight any longer...

and now for another bit of randomness from within my head...

for a long time, i have had a horrible habit of beating myself up over the fact that i am a "stay-at-home-mom". i, like i'm sure others do too, have had this feeling of inadequacy (is that a word?) because i stay at home with my children, which leads me to feel like i am less of a person. last night i had an epiphany though! isn't that a fun word, epiphany?...well, anyway, back to my point...everything i do, whether it is dishes or laundry or some crafty project for the latest holiday, that task or project means everything to me and i try to do it the best i can...cheesy, yes... but true. when i fold my families laundry or do their dishes or even make dinner, i take pleasure in knowing that through that small gesture, they know i love and care for them...when i go overboard with the chessy decorations and sparklies for holidays, i know they will remember those small things throughout their  lives...of course there are days that it is harder than others for me to do those things with a smile on my face, but the purpose is still there. i truly believe that God has put me in this position to nurture and love my family and friends...and all of the gifts and talents He has blessed me with are all a part of who i am and what i share with others. a little of subject, but sorta kinda relates, is the fact that i have often been accused of "making a big deal" out of everything,  but really, is that so bad? i do make a big deal out of everything because i want EVERYTHING to be special and have meaning...so i will keep on making "it" a big deal, whatever "it" may be that day! so in summation, from now on, i am going to keep my chin up while doing those dishes and gluing those sparklies and making each day as special as it can be, because i roll like that and it is enough for me...now on to fondant bows and sparkling things!

well, i have been quite a busy mama this past week! i had tons of fun baking and decorating this little morsel for my friend shelly's baby shower... 

my kitchen table was covered in this all week... 

 

   

but it all came together nicely in the end...AND it made it up the hill to tahoe in one piece, can i get a Hallelujah!

yesterday, i got to play with hairr and makeup again and here are the results...

 

isn't she beauteeeeeful! i wanted to do some more with the makeup, but i was lucky to get this far without getting a black eye! not really, but she was not happy about the makeup thing!

and now my favorite...i am making yet another sparklie, glittery thing...

but you will have to wait until tomorrow to see the finished product...can you just feel the anticipation building?!?!? yep, it's the little things that keep me going....
