yes, tis' true! my baby boy is 3 years old today...i can't believe it. he is such a little boy, but i can't help but look at him as a baby. this "baby" can hit a baseball like no other and knows how to "square up", ride his bike (with training wheels, but still...), recognize his name in writing, only plays with the tiny legos...no duplo blocks in this house!...puts together his race track without help, says he is going to marry his princess, anella and be a knight when he grows up... now the one big milestone i just can't seem to get him past is...dun,dun,dun..duuuuu....potty training! will someone PLEASE help me out with this one? seriously, a 3 year old who refuses to go to the bathroom in the toilet....what is the deal? he seems to think that there are large spiders in all toilets, potty seats, etc...how do i compete with large spiders? i have tried everything from bribery to taking away his favorite toys...nothing seems to work. so, anyone out there with any ideas for me, please, i will try anything at this point!
the birthday boy with his birthday bowl of lucky charms...not something mommy was thrilled about, but daddy thought it would be a cool treat...
...and then, mommy had the great idea of letting him have a little bite of his birthday cake early! i couldn't resist, especially hearing him say, "is it time for my spiderman birthday cake yet?" i had to give in...
so, allow me to backtrack for a minute and tell you about last week...there are a few things i have to share... i turned 35 on february 23rd!!! eek! my super-hot-hubby and elijah spent the day making me a card and a cake...yes, i said the day, and i mean the WHOLE DAY...it took about 6 hours! i was so touched...seriously, anyone who knows my husband, knows he does not bake, nor does he EVER ask to use my scrapbooking stuff! tee,hee...that was fun to see...
jimmie cutting and gluing flowers...i love it!
my wonderful birthday cake! he even colored the icing pink for me! chocolate with white icing, yummy...
ok, now i know some of you are going to be like, roberta, you are a dork, you need to get a grip...but i don't care...i have come to embrace my dorkiness, so here it is...i have this set of chairs...
they are the greatest chairs in the whole, wide world...i have had them since i was 3 years old. these chairs have been through me and my crazy cousins, katie, andrea, hugh and abigail (my mom's other "grand kids" ) my girls and now elijah. when kalie and britt were little, i covered them in yellow gingham to match their playhouse curtains... so last week, i decided it was time to make them a little more "boyish" for elijah...
he chose airplanes...and so, the chairs live on! ya, i know they are just chairs, but really, when i think back, i have so many memories tied to these chairs...thanksgiving and Christmas at the "kids" table...coloring easter eggs...making "art"...tea parties...watching t.v...maybe i am just getting overly sentimental in my old age...ya, i think that's it...
around here, we have been under the assumption that spring had sprung...not so fast! this is what we woke up to on tuesday morning...
jimmie had the day off because UPS had to shut down the tahoe center due to snow...that NEVER happens! it was nice to have daddy home for an extra day...by mid-morning, this was the beautiful view from our bedroom...fresh snow and sunshine...
i have been earnestly working on my journal/scrapbook from the trip i took to russia...in 1990! ya think it's about time i got that done?!? i will post pictures when i finished. lets see, what else...i am posting some new hats on etsy today and i will also have another etsy update next week sometime with a new design for you photographers...a spiffy accessory for your camera...
so that's it for now kids...have a wonderful weekend...God bless!
